Movie Reviews - some good, some bad, some new, some old

While most people spend their christmas holiday visiting with family and gorging on food, I spend it catching up on movies, new and old, fully enjoying my collection of flannel pjs. Here's the beginning of the watch list for this break. Enjoy!

Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story - definitely a rental. Male full-frontal nudity is never really my thing. The performance by John C. Reilly is good and it's definitely worth watching for the Paul Rudd/Jack Black cameo in the beatles scene.

Charlie Wilson's War - good, not great, but you really can't blame them because you can't change the history. Good performances all around.

Six Degrees of Separation - An interesting look back at early Will Smith. While not completely fulfilling in the end, worth watching for the overall commentary on society.

Syriana - A look at how U.S. policy and interests affects the politics in middle eastern countries. Definitely not a "check your brain at the door" type of flick, but compelling if you are prepared to pay attention. Clooney and Damon are solid as expected.

Swing Kids - Set in Germany during the Nazi take over, teenagers rebel by listening to U.S. swing music made predominantly by those the Nazi's oppress. A good look at the struggle to survive in a changing world vs. doing what is right, with some great music along the way. Also a fun look back at a young Robert Sean Leonard and Christian Bale, a personal fav.

More to come soon...

Rodents Of Unusual Size? I don't think they exist.

So according to the AP R.O.U.S.'s do exist! That's right folks. Scared of your average subway rat? Cringe every time the massive rodents appear in "The Princess Bride?"

That's nothing compared to the new species of giant rats discovered by researchers in Indonesia. Check out the full story here (at least while the link is good).

If you're feeling really supportive get your own t-shirt here.

Long live the R.O.U.S. (and buttercup and wesley)

Check out this kickin video
